Due to the threat of severe winter weather, the following will be closed on Tuesday, January 29, 2019:

•All Jefferson County Schools

•Tabernacle Christian School

•City of Gardendale Offices (not emergency personnel)

•Jefferson County offices

•Jefferson County Circuit and District Courts

•All campuses of Bevill State Community College

•All campuses of Wallace State Community College

Additionally, local municipalities are preparing their equipment and personnel to be ready to deal with issues that arise from the potential winter weather. 

The City of Fultondale said it has spent the morning hauling more than 50 tons of sand in to be ready to assist with roadways and will have personnel from the street crews ready at approximately 2 a.m. (time subject to change as forecasts change). All first responder vehicles are outfitted with all-weather equipment, including chains, or were purchased as all-wheel drive vehicles. 

The City of Gardendale also has street crews working to prepare the city streets and will be on call as the weather worsens during the night. 

Warrior Fire Department will be staffing with additional personnel overnight, including an additional medic and additional driver for ambulance services. The City of Warrior’s north storm shelter on Warrior-Trafford Road will be Open in case the community needs it.
