Cullman residents will get to kick off 2019 with a splash during Saturday’s Polar Bear Plunge at the outdoor pool of the Cullman Wellness and Aquatic Center.

After last year saw a Polar Bear Plunge that took place in temperatures in the 30s, this year’s event should be a little warmer, as the National Weather Service forecast predicts sunny weather for Saturday and the temperature to be in the 50s.

Registration will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m., with the Plunge taking place at 11 a.m. Participants will have a chance to win a 12-month family membership to the Cullman Wellness and Aquatic Center.

The event also marks the end of Cullman Parks and Recreation’s Wellness Week. The Wellness and Aquatic Center will be open for free to anyone who may be looking to sign up for a membership to start the new year.
