PREP BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Lady Aggies down Good Hope 61-24; Raiders move past Fairview 57-51

FAIRVIEW — The Lady Aggies jumped out to a quick lead and never looked back, defeating Good Hope 61-24 inside Joe Shults Gymnasium on Thursday.

Fairview (10-8) received a game-high 17 points from Molly McKelvy in the win.

“What got us the win was hustle, teamwork and pushing the ball,” McKelvy said. “We started out great, and we kept pushing until the end. Super happy about winning, but we cannot be satisfied.”

Payton Golden was next in line with 10 points, while Morgan Lindsey (nine), Jacy Gorham (six), Maddie Yeager (five), Isabella McGukin (five), Katie Ball (three), Daisy Manasco (two), Deavan Fulmer (two) and Emma Garcia (two) also contributed for coach Justin Billings’ team.

The Lady Raiders were paced offensively by Abby Neighbors, who notched six points.

Heather Tetro (four), Savanna Burney (four), Rudi Derrick (three), Ivey Maddox (three), Bailey Tetro (two) and Desire’ Odachowski (two) pitched in buckets as well.

% Good Hope 57, Fairview 51: The Raiders outlasted the Aggies on Thursday, improving to 13-3 this season following a close road victory.

Cole Maddox paced all scorers with 25 points, while Drew Maddox compiled 11. Noah Fendley (seven), Tanner Malin (four), Michael Lowe (four), Eli Phares (three) and Matt Dixon (three) rounded out the offensive output for coach Drew Adams’ team.

“We started off strong tonight but really hit a lull in the second half and turned the ball over way too much,” Adams said. “Give credit to Fairview. They’ve been banged up all year and are finally getting healthy. They’re a very scary team at full strength.”

Dow Nichols garnered a team-high 14 points for the Aggies (4-11) in the loss.

Austin Jackson (eight), Sawyer Daniel (seven), Mason Black (six), Luke Yarbrough (six), Austin Turner (four), Zane Miller (four) and Connor Tipton (two) also contributed for Fairview.

% Bessemer City 77, Cullman 67: The Bearcats dropped to 13-5 this season following Thursday’s loss at the Pleasant Grove Hoopfest.

Jayden Sullins led Cullman with 18 points, while Noah Bussman tossed in 15.

J.D. Parrish and Tucker Gambrill provided nine points apiece as well.

The Bearcats will return to action on Friday at 2:30 p.m. against Briarwood.

% Vinemont 70, Falkville 42: The Eagles breezed past the Blue Devils on Thursday night to garner a road win.

Katch Johnson scored 27 points, while Jordan Hall was right behind with 23.

Six other players netted at least two points for coach Preston Boyd’s squad.
