Man wanted on murder charge caught in Cullman

- Turner was wanted on a murder charged when he was arrested in Cullman.
A Decatur man, wanted for murder was charged with trafficking methamphetamine Friday by the Cullman Narcotics Enforcement Team.
Jason Lavan Turner, 41, had an outstanding warrant from the Department of Corrections for murder and was spotted by investigators in a Cullman business. While taking Turner into custody, a baggie with ICE, a purer form of methamphetamine, was confiscated from Turner, according to a news release from the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office.
He was charged by CNET with trafficking in mMethamphetamine and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. The ICE weighed 28 grams. Investigators also found Xanax while making the arrest.
“This is a good amount of meth that was prevented from being sold in Cullman County because of diligent law enforcement officers and this suspect is now in jail,” said Sheriff Matt Gentry. “ I would like to thank the CNET agents for their work and also say, as I have said before, the more arrests like these that are made will make people second guess coming to Cullman County to sell their drugs.” .
Turner is being held in the Cullman County Detention Center with no bond.
