- Oscar Glasscock looks on during a 7-on-7 earlier this year.
Cullman High School is expected to hire Arab’s Oscar Glasscock as its next head football coach.
The move was initially confirmed by The Arab Tribune on Friday and later by multiple sources, although school officials contacted by The Times would not officially confirm Glasscock’s hiring.
The Cullman City Board of Education is scheduled to meet Monday at 7:30 a.m. to vote on the recommendation, which is expected to be approved, according to sources.
A 1985 Cullman graduate, Glasscock compiled a 1-9 record with the Arabian Knights this season, his lone as a head coach.
Glasscock played multiple positions for the Bearcats during his prep career, including tight end, guard, defensive end and linebacker, under former head coaches Jerry Elmore, Jim Pyburn and Dale Cook.
He later returned to his alma mater to be an assistant under former head coaches Mike Bates and Mark Britton.
Glasscock has also made assistant coaching stops at Mountain Brook, Hartselle, Cordova, Calera, Florence and Citronelle, primarily as a defensive coordinator.
Glasscock is expected to replace Matt Plunkett, who resigned in late November after one season (3-7) with the program.
