PREP BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Lady Aggies ease past Ashville 54-27; Several local teams notch wins

Fairview’s varsity girls doubled up Ashville on Friday, grabbing a 54-27 home win to improve to 8-4 this season.

Daisy Manasco led the Lady Aggies with 13 points, while Morgan Lindsey (11) and Molly McKelvy (10) also had double-digit showings. Payton Golden (eight), Jacy Gorham (five), Isabella McGukin (three), Micah Means (two) and Katie Ball (two) rounded out the scoring for Justin Billings’ squad.

“After losing two straight (games), we knew we had to get back to work and fix a few things,” the coach said. “We’ve had a few really good practices, and our goal tonight was to come out and focus on us. Focus on the things we can control. We came out of the gate clicking. Confidence was high, and we played hard. I am extremely proud of the way my girls played tonight.”

% Cold Springs 76, West End 22: The 2A No. 3 Lady Eagles coasted to a home win on Friday.

Camryn Crider (21), Elizabeth Hill (17) and Shay Sellers (10) all delivered double-digit contributions.

Kinley Campbell was good for eight.

Cold Springs is now 9-4 this season.

% Cullman 60, Huntsville 30: Anna Katherine Eastman netted a game-high 21 points to help the Lady Bearcats pick up a home triumph on Friday.

Hannah Hoffman and Olivia Neal (nine apiece) were next in line offensively for 6A No. 7 Cullman (12-1).

With the performance, Eastman surpassed 1,000 career points. She currently sits at 1,005 career points.

% Holly Pond 47, New Hope 6: The Lady Broncos had no problems en route to a road triumph on Friday.

Maddie Heatherly and Sarah Finley registered 11 and 10 points, respectively, while Elizabeth Miller (eight) and Maddi Ham (seven) also pitched in multiple buckets for Holly Pond (6-5).

% Brindlee Mountain 43, Vinemont 32: Valerie Stacks (10) and Kanasta Daniel (eight) were the top scorers for the Lady Eagles in Friday’s home loss.

% West Point 80, Lawrence County 39: The Lady Warriors moved to 10-1 this season with Friday’s home win.

Miriam Oldacre had 18 points, Lexi Shadix tossed in 16, and Molly Pendley added nine for West Point offensively.

Maci Hamby (eight), Olivia Ball (seven) and Mackenzie Carter (seven) also turned in strong efforts.

% Hanceville 41, Corner 27: The Lady Bulldogs improved to 7-6 overall following Thursday’s home victory.

Kelly Pickett led Hanceville with 17 points. Malia Howell (nine) and Mira Gieser (five) also chipped in offensively.

Prior to the game, Pickett was recognized for reaching 1,000 career points earlier this season.

% West Point 76, Holly Pond 40: The Lady Warriors picked up a road win over the Lady Broncos on Thursday.

Olivia Ball netted 17 points for West Point, while Lexi Shadix and Mackenzie Carter had 13 and 10, respectively.

Miriam Oldacre (nine), Molly Pendley (nine) and Maci Hamby (eight) also contributed.

Kirsten Campbell paced Holly Pond with 11 points. Tess Duke and Maddie Heatherly had eight apiece.

% Winston County 63, St. Bernard 32: Claire Sanders scored a team-high 16 points in Thursday’s home loss.

Emma Tafazoli (eight) and Emma Powell (six) pitched in for the Lady Saints as well.

% Cold Springs 55, West End 35: The Eagles rode a 23-5 third quarter to a home win on Friday.

Cold Springs (10-3) was paced by Landyn Freeman’s 18 points. Adam Hill was right behind him with 16.

Brody Peppers added eight, while Seth Williams produced seven.

% Huntsville 47, Cullman 35: The Bearcats saw their nine-game win streak end with a home loss on Friday.

Cooper Beck corralled six points for Cullman (11-2), while J.D. Parrish, Mason Herron and Tucker Gambrill had five apiece.

% Oneonta 69, Good Hope 65: The Raiders came up just short against the Redskins at home on Friday.

Cole Maddox had 22 points for Good Hope (6-2), while Noah Fendley added 16 for coach Drew Adams’ squad.

“Losses are never acceptable or taken lightly for our group, but I can confidently say that I’ve never been more proud of a team’s fight than I was ours tonight,” Adams said in a text message. “Oneonta is an elite 4A basketball team, and we had them on the ropes for 32 minutes.”

% Holly Pond 84, New Hope 81 (OT): The Broncos claimed an overtime win on the road on Friday.

Kyler Chaney (16), Isaac Ludwig (13), Cooper Jones (13), Jordan Allbright (10) and Tyler Boatright (10) came up with big performances for Holly Pond (7-5).

Devyn Tankersley contributed nine points as well.

% Brindlee Mountain 72, Vinemont 56: Katch Johnson (14), Collin Teichmiller (12), Jordan Hall (10) and Curtis Kennedy (10) were the top scorers for the Eagles in Friday’s home loss.

% Lawrence County 68, West Point 53: Kolton Sapp scored a team-high 21 points, but the Warriors fell to the Red Devils at home on Friday.

Rylan Jones added 12 for West Point (4-8).

% Hanceville 61, Corner 47: Four players scored in double figures for the Bulldogs in Thursday’s home win.

Tyson Bellmon (13), Zeke McDonald (12), RJ Evans (11) and Fred Ellis (10) were Hanceville’s top contributors.

The Class 3A No. 6 Bulldogs are now 10-3 this season.

Before the matchup, Evans was recognized for reaching 1,000 career points earlier this season.

% Holly Pond 76, West Point 61: The Broncos picked up a road victory over the Warriors on Thursday.

Kyler Chaney reeled off 34 points for Holly Pond, which also received 11 points from Tyler Boatright.

Kolton Sapp (18), Rylan Jones (13) and Will Cochran (10) had the top contributions for West Point in the loss.

% St. Bernard 52, Winston County 45: The Saints recorded a home win over the Yellow Jackets on Thursday.

John Rose racked up 22 points for St. Bernard (6-6), while Gavin Whaley (12) and Caleb Guthery (eight) netted crucial buckets as well.
