A two-vehicle crash left one person dead and two injured Monday night at the intersection of Cherokee Avenue and 24th Street.

Cullman Police Department officers responded to the scene where a Ford Explorer and a Hyundai Sonata collided at about 6:30 p.m., Police Chief Kenny Culpepper said.

The victim was identified as April Dawn Landinger, 30, of Hanceville. She was pronounced dead at the scene, said Cullman County Coroner Jeremy Kilpatrick.

Both drivers of the vehicles were injured, with one transported to Cullman Regional and the other to a Birmingham hospital, Duncan said.

The wreck left the northbound lanes of Cherokee Avenue blocked for several hours while responders worked at the scene to tend to the injured and remove the victim from the wreckage. One southbound lane was open during the investigation, but both westbound lanes of 24th Street were closed for hours, as well, Duncan said.
