- Heath and Seth Horne were presented with an ActionTrack Chair by the Outdoor Ability Foundation. The chair will enable the brothers to go hunting, fishing and enjoy outdoor areas like the beach.
On Thursday, Kathleen Phillips hosted her first cooking show at the Gardendale Civic Center. The event served as a fundraiser for a nonprofit run by Phillips’ husband and son.
The Outdoor Ability Foundation provides special, rugged wheelchairs to young people who love the outdoors but struggle with mobility. The foundation presented one of these chairs to a special set of brothers during intermission of the cooking show.
The show, which featured recipes for fast, healthy or otherwise “reimagined” holiday recipes, also featured a silent auction that raised more than $2,000 for the Outdoor Ability Foundation.
The recipes, which are now available on Phillips’ website and Facebook page for Grits and Gouda, took a backstage to the reason for the show once Scott and Grayson Phillips surprised Heath and Seth Horne with their Action Track Chair.
The foundation is raising money for another chair, to be presented. To donate to the effort, visit outdoorabilityfoundation.com.
