Subdivision regulations are expected to be updated in Cullman next year after a series of evaluations and recommendations come to a close.
Jason Fondren of KPS Group was introduced Monday at the Cullman Planning Commission as the consultant who will lead the effort for the city.
Fondren, who is a planning consultant, will begin reviewing zoning ordinances and essentially all city rules pertaining to subdivision development, said Mayor Woody Jacobs.
“In terms of the process, we suggest working through an advisory committee which can consist of Planning Commission members, staff and members of the development community,” Fondren said. “We will engage with you, keep you updated along the way and discuss the issues so that there are no surprises along the way.”
Jacobs said re-evaluation of the ordinances and revamping them will clear up any issues that the city and residents have faced in the past.
The Planning Commission also tabled Phase II of a development at Fischer Farms Phase II until clarification of storm drainage guidelines is received, based on an ordinance passed prior to the beginning of the project. Phase III of The Flatts at Fischer Farms was tabled as well to determine that it pre-dated the ordinance.
A short form subdivision on 3rd Street SE (U.S. 278 East) was approved by the commission.
