A few voters leaving precincts today in Cullman reported they were motivated to vote because of a responsibility to play a role in who serves the public.
Marie Creel said she got out to vote on Tuesday because it is an important duty for people to have their voices be heard.
“It’s a privilege, and I think, my responsibility,” she said. “I want to have a say in who’s elected to our offices.”
Creel said she voted for all Republicans on her ballot, as she thinks the nation will be better with Republicans leading the way.
“It’s a serious election, and I’m just concerned about where our nation is going,” she said. “I think if we don’t vote, we won’t have a say in how it’s going.
Sherry Lewis said she also voted a straight Republican ticket, as she feels like President Donald Trump has the country heading in the right direction.

“I just feel like Trump’s doing a real good job,” she said.
Lewis said she has seen a lot of division in the country during this election, and she does not like seeing families or friends who stop speaking with each other because of their political views.
“I really think that it’s divided, but it used to not be like that,” she said.
She said she’s voted for both parties in the past, and she will still vote either party if she likes a candidate, but feels like the Democratic candidates have been more negative towards Republicans during this election cycle.
“Watching TV, it’s kind of stressful,” she said. “I just hate all the negativity they put towards Republicans.”
