Hanceville Culture Club tour First Source

The Hanceville Culture Club made a short field trip down the street from their meeting place at the Hanceville Library for the meeting October 1. First Source for Women, 204 Commercial St., was their destination where they were given a tour of the facility. First Source for Women offers pregnancy counseling and aid to women of all ages. The director, Catherine Bethel, showed Culture Club members the offices and the “store” where First Source participants are able to get supplies for children such as diapers and clothes.

Afterward, the monthly meeting was called to order by president Pam Reid. The devotion was read by Retha Tinney. Margarete Cowart gave the treasurer’s report.

Plans were made for a Christmas display at the Hanceville Veteran’s Memorial Park. Also, the group voted to contribute $200. to buy candy for the Hanceville Fall Fest, November 28. The previous week, members helped package food for the Knapsacks for Kids program at Hanceville Schools.

Other members present were Sandra Schultz, Marcy Manning, Nancy Horton, Nancy Michelfelder, Teresa Cooper, Sally Alexander, Bonnie Sawyer, Donna Speeker, and Anne Bailey.
