The odds that anyone would have the winning combination is more than 300 million to one, but that’s not stopping many people – including some from Alabama – who drove to Georgia to buy a ticket.
“It would be awesome to win something like that. But somebody had asked me earlier what I would do with it. And I think I would probably wind up giving a lot of it away. There is a lot of people in the world that need help. But I think we could do a lot of good with that kind of money,” said Ray Torrillo, a Birmingham resident.
“Yeah that’s the most important thing, is to help my family,” said Jeanetta Jude, Shelby County resident. “I don’t work. I just bought a new car, so pay that off. And we have a beautiful home. But I’m sure if we won that kind of money, we’d have to move.”
If you were to have the lucky numbers, you would have the option of taking a lump sum payout. That cash payout for the Mega Millions is $904 million.
“Me and my brother drove up here this morning to get lottery tickets because Alabama don’t have anything,” said Sue Mcateer from Tuscaloosa County. “And I want to win some money. I like it. I love it. See all my tickets,” she said laughing.
