PREP CROSS COUNTRY: Cold Springs sweeps small-school titles at Dew It On The Trails

Cold Springs swept the small-school titles at the Dew It On The Trails meet in Decatur last Saturday.
Jonathan Collett (third), Cole Akridge (sixth), Trentan Williams (eighth), Will Grimmett (13th) and Seth Walker (14th) helped the Eagles finish comfortably ahead of the field.
Fairview, meanwhile, placed second in the Class 1A-4A competition behind solid outings from Peyton Bailey (ninth), A.B. Diaz (10th), Keagan Hardin (11th), Daniel Cook (21st) and Will Butler (35th).
Will Rhodes (24th), Daniel Flores-Carreno (69th), Bosten McDuffy (75th), Derrick Sears (95th) and Marcos Ramirez (109th) were the top runners for Vinemont, which finished 12th.
Cullman’s boys placed 16th out of 25 squads in the large-school (5A-7A) division.
Will Thompson sped to a 12th-place showing, while Edgar Media (31st), Walker Huddleston (55th), Reid Huddleston (229th) and Jackson Griffith (234th) also contributed.
The Lady Eagles garnered speedy outings from Ava Akridge (sixth), Ashleigh White (seventh), Alyssa Jackson (24th), Ciara Calvert (28th) and Emma Hancock (30th) to edge Brindlee Mountain by only six points for the top spot in the small-school competition.
The Lady Aggies, who finished ninth, were led by Angelica Antibero (22nd), Brianna Lodge (38th), Alyssa Harper (39th), Jillian Moore (70th) and America Diaz (74th).
The Lady Bearcats — Della Kelly (23rd), Jennifer Aviles (30th), Bernarda Tizapa (31st), Ivy Edge (34th) and Tess Heaton (102nd) — secured an eighth-place showing in the large-school division.
