During the early morning hours of Friday, Sandra Duke Shikle, was found dead in the Cullman County Detention Center.

Shikle, 52, was from Cullman, according to a news release from the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office.

Shikle was charged with 25 counts of theft in 2016 involving a Dodge City business where she worked.

Detention Center deputies found Shikle at approximately  4:15 a.m. and began to render medical aid immediately by giving her CPR and calling for emergency medical personnel, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

Coroner Jeremy Kilpatrick was called to the scene and said an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.

The Sheriff’s Office has requested the State Bureau of Investigation to lead the investigation. No foul play is suspected, according to the news release.
