Fultondale linebacker Ja’Len Sims picks Memphis

FULTONDALE—Fultondale’s senior defensive leader looked relieved on Friday to get the recruiting process behind him.
Prior to tonight’s home game with John Carroll Catholic, Ja’Len Sims gathered with teammates, coaches, family and friends to announce his verbal commitment to Memphis. The three-star senior also held scholarship offers from LSU, Auburn, Mississippi State and Ole Miss.

Sims wore a zipped-up jacket to the ceremony and revealed the Memphis shirt he wore underneath as his family joined him on stage.
The 6-foot-1 linebacker represented Fultondale last season as a first-team all-state selection along with 2020 quarterback Jayson Jones. Sims has been named to the Class 3A all-state team three straight years.
