If you love prep football, you’d be hard-pressed to find more parody than what Week 3 has to offer.

Can Cold Springs and Good Hope remain perfect?

Can Addison and Vinemont win their respective region openers?

Can Cullman, Fairview and/or West Point bounce back following tough Week 2 losses?

And just who’s going to win that Cullman County clash between rivals Hanceville and Holly Pond?

think I know some of those answers (see below), but I’m ready to find out for sure come Friday night.

Before we get to our weekly breakdowns, though, don’t forget to cast your vote in “The People’s Pick,” a series of Twitter polls posted on my timeline (@winfreyjake) each and every Monday.

Let us begin.

Class 2A, Region 7

% Red Bay (3-0, 1-0) at Addison (2-1, 0-0): In my opinion, this could be the best game of the week.

Red Bay has outscored its foes by an average of 34 to 10.7 en route to a perfect start, while Addison got its offense rolling in a 51-18 destruction of Winston County last week.

Both teams are disciplined, physical and extremely well-coached.

This game will come down to the fourth quarter — there’s a prediction — and I think the Bulldogs will make just enough plays down the stretch to earn a crucial region victory.

% Jake’s Pick: Addison

% People’s Pick: Addison (130 votes — 62 percent)

Class 2A, Region 5

% Sumiton Christian (0-3, 0-1) at Cold Springs (3-0, 1-0): I won’t waste too much time on this one.

Sumiton Christian has scored just 27 points in three games this season and has surrendered at least 31 points to each of its three opponents.

That’s not a tasty recipe, and a trip to Cranford Stricklin Stadium won’t soothe what ails the road team.

% Jake’s Pick: Cold Springs

% People’s Pick: Cold Springs (126 votes — 88 percent)

Class 6A, Region 7

% Columbia (0-3, 0-1) at Cullman (1-2, 0-1): It’s been a tough two weeks for the Bearcats.

Having said that, I believe Cullman gets back in the win column on Friday night.

Columbia has lost 25 straight games and has scored just 45 points since the start of the 2017 season.

Additionally, the Eagles have allowed 39.7 points per contest so far this fall.

The pick here is simple.

% Jake’s Pick: Cullman

% People’s Pick: Cullman (136 votes — 87 percent)

Class 4A, Region 7

% Fairview (1-2, 0-1) at St. John Paul II (3-0, 1-0): I’m not quite sure what to make of this matchup.

The Falcons are 3-0 for the first time in program history — their first varsity season was back in 2012 — but the teams they’ve beaten are a combined 0-8 heading into Friday night.

The Aggies, meanwhile, need a victory to avoid an 0-2 region start for a fifth consecutive year.

This is the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

% Jake’s Pick: St. John Paul II

% People’s Pick: St. John Paul II (121 votes — 69 percent)

Class 3A, Region 5

% Holly Pond (2-1, 0-1) at Hanceville (1-2, 0-1): I don’t want to call this a must-win game, but it’s a likely a must-win game for both programs.

An 0-2 start in Region 5 play would make it difficult, but not impossible, for the losing team to garner a spot in the playoffs.

The Broncos have won the previous two contests (40-20 in 2017 and 40-16 in 2016), but the Bulldogs lead the series 22-13.

Based on what I’ve seen so far this season, Holly Pond is the better team heading into Friday night.

Can Hanceville win? Sure. But I’m more inclined to think the Broncos make it three in a row.

% Jake’s Pick: Holly Pond

% People’s Pick: Holly Pond (179 votes — 88 percent)

Class 3A, Region 5

% Vinemont (1-1, 0-0) at Midfield (2-0, 1-0): The Eagles will have their hands full on Friday night.

Midfield traveled up to Cullman County last week and took home a 36-30 triumph against Holly Pond behind a superb effort from running back Quindarius Adams (140 yards and two touchdowns).

Vinemont, on the other hand, has some momentum after a last-second win over Westbrook Christian and could give Midfield as much trouble as the Broncos did.

Whether it’s enough to get over the hump remains to be seen.

% Jake’s Pick: Midfield

% People’s Pick: Midfield (129 votes — 74 percent)

Class 5A, Region 7

% West Point (2-1, 0-1) at Lawrence County (1-1, 1-0): Here are the final scores from this particular series since coach Don Farley took over at West Point back in 2013:

% West Point 15, Lawrence County 7

% West Point 21, Lawrence County 14 (OT)

% Lawrence County 28, West Point 27

% West Point 28, Lawrence County 21

% Lawrence County 28, West Point 20

This one is almost guaranteed to be close.

And close games require a coin flip … usually.

% Jake’s Pick: West Point

% People’s Pick: West Point (115 votes — 84 percent)

Non-Region Games

% Tanner (0-3, 0-1) at Good Hope (3-0, 1-0): One of these programs is not like the another.

Tanner has been outscored 120-41 in its three losses this season, while Good Hope has looked every bit the part of a playoff contender under fourth-year coach Alan Scott.

Look for the Raiders to establish their running game early and nab another victory.

% Jake’s Pick: Good Hope

% People’s Pick: Good Hope (127 votes — 83 percent)

% Jake’s Record to Date: 21-5

% People’s Record to Date: 16-9
