- Fairview's Dayne Black.
Dayne Black did what he needed to do — and then some — last Friday night.
The Fairview quarterback spearheaded an impressive second-half effort to propel the Aggies to a 32-22 home win against Hanceville inside Dafford Smith Stadium.
Black, a senior, rushed for 150 yards and three touchdowns on 24 carries and picked up 58 yards and a touchdown on 6-of-9 passing, doing most of his damage in the final two quarters.
He also added seven tackles and an interception on defense to take home The Times’ Athlete of the Week honor.
Parker Martin (six tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack) and Tyvn Ellis (16 carries, 84 yards and a touchdown) were Fairview’s other top contributors.
Athlete of the Week, which is sponsored by Mitch Smith Chevrolet, is open to all local athletes.
Nominations can be sent to jwinfrey@cullmantimes.com with the person’s name, school and statistics.
