Mayor Jerry Bartlett said the city always tries to help out Good Hope’s schools when they are trying to raise funds.

“We support our schools,” he said. “We’re very, very proud of the band.”

Members of the band attended the meeting to present the council with a card to show their appreciation.

“This is just really awesome for us and we’re really, really thankful,” Band Director Melanie Gonzalez said.

The council also approved a $15,000 contribution to Good Hope Fire and Rescue to help pay for new equipment that includes turnout gear, a new truck and radios.

In other business, the council approved a resolution to enter into an agreement with Avenu Insights and Analytics for business license recovery.

Under the contract, Avenu searches for businesses that should have applied for a business license to work in the city but didn’t, and then collect the fees that should have been paid.

The firm, which was previously known as RDS, had an contract with Good Hope for the last three years and found $6,531 in unpaid business licenses from 2015-2017, Avenu representative Audrey Freeman said.
