School board approves new personnel, transfers

Cullman City Schools will have a few more new faces when school starts back next week, and will have a few familiar faces in new positions.
In a special called meeting Friday morning, the Cullman City School Board approved the hiring of new personnel for the upcoming school year and approved a few transfers into new positions.

Former Information Technology Manager Michael Fowlkes changed positions to the Technology Coordinator at the Central Office, and Cullman High School Assistant Principal Jake Johnson had a transfer approved to become the new Federal Programs/Career Technical Education Coordinator at the Central Office.
“We’re glad to have you on board and we look forward to working with both of you,” Superintendent Susan Patterson said.
Cullman City Schools Support Services Coordinator Hayden Faulk and the rest of the system’s maintenance team earned praise from board members for their work over the summer getting schools prepared for the new school year and heading the repairs from the March 19 hailstorms.
“Thank you and all of your people for all of the work that they have done this summer,” Board Member Joey Orr said.
In other business, the board:
Gave permission to salvage the following technology items: 20 SMART Interactive Boards (SB680 Models), 10 LCP projectors (non-working), lot of no-working Cisco Wireless Access Points, lot of unmanaged network switches (most non-usable), 16 Dell D630 laptops (end-of-life/non-usable), lot of LCD monitors (non-working), lot of old Dell Desktop PCs (non-working).

Approved revised Cullman City Head Start Code of Ethical Conduct for Staff, Policy Council/Committee members, Volunteers and Parent/Guardians 1302.90 (c).
Gave permission for Cullman High School to contract with Encore Rehabilitation, Inc. to provide athletic training and physical therapy services.
Gave permission to contract with Trent Dean for Cullman Parks and Recreation summer track and field camp (paid by Cullman Parks and Recreation camp fees).
Gave permission to contract with Alice Lindsey to provide special education instructional assistant services on an as-needed basis beginning July 19 to Aug. 1.
Gave permission to provide a $50 stipend to the following kindergarten teachers for CCPS Report Card Committee meeting on Aug. 1: Tonya Trammell, Cortney Peed and Priscilla Henshaw (Title One funds).
Gave permission to provide stipends for Head Start new teacher training in July (Head Start funds).
Gave permission to provide stipends for Bruce Bentley to attend Medication Training and Crisis Prevention Institute De-escalation Training in July 2018 (General/IDEA Funds).
Gave permission to provide stipends to Gifted teachers to attend Eligibility Determinations training in July 2018 (Gifted Education funds).

Kim Shelton, Cullman High School, requesting on-the-job-injury leave days and will return to work on Oct. 10.
