Specifically, Cullman fared well in all the key categories. The city system was awarded A and A+ ratings for teachers, academics, administration, food, health and safety of students, college preparation and resources and facilities. The only ratings below those excellent marks were for sports and diversity, with a B+ and B-, respectively.
The success of schools cannot be emphasized enough in terms of immediate and long-term values.
A deeply-involved community in the education system is paramount to directing children into living lives that have value. When parents or community insist on strong academics, teaching, sports and extracurricular activities, students will perform well in the workplace. They will also carry forward the values of leadership and involvement in their communities when adults.
Cullman has developed a strong foundation in its public school system. Many of its graduates return to the city and become involved in key aspects of building a better quality of life.
The education system is also the foundation of providing a skilled workforce that makes investment from companies more likely. As Cullman Economic Development Agency Director Dale Greer noted, the quality of the schools is often first on the agenda of industrial and business prospects. He also noted the increasingly important issue of workforce preparedness and development is high on the list.
Many local graduates go to four-year universities while others enroll at Wallace State Community College, where excellent training is available to prepare for various careers meeting the needs of local and regional economies.
