As popular ridesharing service Lyft prepares its entry into the Cullman market, learning the ins and outs of the app-based platform is as easy as showing up for today’s info session at the Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce.
Lyft Executive Ambassador and Memphis Operations Captain Jack Eastep will be at the Chamber’s Walmart Distribution Center room at noon today to inform prospective drivers, as well as any interested member of the community, about how the service works. Eastep also will be available to help sign up new local Lyft drivers on site.
Ridesharing services, which allow customers to order a ride and pay their fare all within a proprietary mobil phone app, have been slow in coming to many Alabama communities, but Gov. Kay Ivey’s signing of new ridesharing legislation earlier this year opened the path for competing services like Lyft and Uber to reexamine markets where they’d previously steered clear.
In addition to explaining how the service works and speaking with future Lyft drivers, Eastep also will talk about how ridesharing integrates into the community by bolstering local businesses.
