Gardendale cheerleaders impress at UCA summer camp

- The Gardendale High School cheerleading squad recently competed in the Universal Cheerleaders Association Camp at The Beach Club in Fort Morgan, Ala. The girls placed first in Rally Routine, Sideline Cheer and Game day divisions.
The Gardendale High School cheerleaders showed their talent and spirit at summer camp. The team traveled to Fort Morgan, Ala. where it competed in the Universal Cheerleaders Association Camp held at The Beach Club.
The girls won top honors, placing first in Rally Routine, Sideline Cheer, and Game day divisions. They received the Superior Trophy, Spirit Sticks, and were selected by the other teams for the UCA Camp Leadership Award.
They also received the Top Banana Award, which is one of the most coveted awards to win at summer camp. It is earned by squads that display leadership and an overwhelming amount of spirit each day.
Senior Captain, Lexie Wood won the Varsity Jump Off and JV Co-Captain Anna Reeves won the JV Jump Off Award.
All sophomores and seniors tried out for and were selected as All-Americans. All of the senior cheerleaders were selected for a staff application for Universal Cheerleaders Association.
The 2018-2019 GHS Rocket Cheerleaders: Seniors – Jazmin Crumb, Cydney Fields, Maegan Green, Ally Jay, Madalyn Morton, Reagan Riggs(co-captain), Katie VonHagel, Meredith Watson (co-captain), Lexie Wood (captain). Juniors – Kenzie Broadley, Kaitlyn Hambley, Madelyn Jones, Kaylee Ragsdale, Natalie Ridgeway. Sophomores – Gracie Burdette, Krislyn McCondichie (JV co-captain), Madi Claire Miller, Anna Reeves (JV co-captain). Freshman – Alena Borden, Kendal Broadley, Ryleigh Croxton, Grace Gardner, Abby Hollis, Delaney Miles, Alex Morgan, Chandler Petix, Kara VonHagel, Madeline Wood.
The cheerleaders are coached by Lesli Dodson and Alex Thomas. Special thanks to Chad Elliot and Cowboys All-Star Cheerleading for use of facilities and extra coaching.
