Cullman County 4H Shotgun team finishes in top 10 nationally

The Cullman County 4H team represented the state of Alabama at the National 4H Shotgun Championships held recently in Grand Island Nebraska, finishing eighth among 32 teams from across the country.

“This is the best we’ve ever finished. I’m really proud of everyone to do well in such a large field,” said Jay Conway, 4-H Foundation agent for Cullman County

There were 32 states represented in this competition. 

Each team competed in Sporting Clays, Skeet and Trap as a team and individually. In Sporting Clays the team finished 14th with Blake Arrington placing 20th individually with a score of 81. In Skeet the team finished 8th with Griffin Barksdale placing 10th individually with a score of 97. In Trap the team finished 6th with Griffin Barksdale placing 12th individually with a score 95. In all 3 disciplines combined the team finished 8th. All 4 team members did an outstanding job and represented Cullman County and the state of Alabama with dignity and class.

Cullman County 4H has won the state competition and represented the state of Alabama three times since 1999. The team prepared for the State and National event at Barrett Field in Good Hope. The team and their families would like to thank the sponsors, that made this trip possible, and the 4H coaches – Jay Conway, Bobby Barrett, Scottie Arrington, Greg Barksdale, Willy Hendrix and Hayden Faulk.
