- Traffic moves slowly through area where a trailer fell from the overpass near Dodge City.
The truck on I65 northbound has been dislodged from the southbound access bridge over I-65 to the Gov. Guy Hunt Rest Stop.
The bridge is secure, according to the Alabama Department of Transportation.
Both northbound lanes are now open, but cleanup is ongoing.
ALDOT is urging drivers to move through the area with caution. ALDOT is placing temporary barriers along the damaged section of barrier until more permanent repair can be made. Prior to this incident, the southbound rest area access was closed for paving operations. It will remain closed into Friday.
The plan is to reopen the southbound rest area access for the weekend.
A multiple vehicle wreck on I65 southbound near Exit 304 created a significant backup in that direction this afternoon, but southbound traffic is flowing again.
The Alabama Department of Transportation says I-65 northbound at the Gov. Guy Hunt Rest Stop, south of Good Hope, will remain closed for an undetermined amount of time.
A commercial vehicle carrying scrap metal caused damage to the bridge in Cullman County, shifting it about two inches. The trucking company involved in the accident is Brothers Recycling out of Birmingham.
