Three people were injured Wednesday in a four-vehicle wreck on U.S. 278 East.
The wreck occurred after 1 p.m. near Eastside Baptist Church.
Cullman Police Officer Jerry Perkins said traffic hand slowed or stalled in the eastbound lane. A GMC Canyon driven by Brian Swavely of Hanceville ran into the back of a Jeep Cherokee driven by John Ringer Jr., of Cullman.
Swavely, his wife, Regina Swavely, and Ringer were transported to Cullman Regional for non life-threatening injuries, Perkins said.
The initial collision created a chain-reaction of wrecks, as two other vehicles were hit because of the impact. The drivers of those vehicles were not injured.
Within a few minutes, a separate accident occurred on the high about two blocks east. The wreck did not cause injuries, but again slowed traffic.
Officers and other responders were able to keep traffic moving slowly and eventually had the highway open.
