- Cullman County Republican Party President Waid Harbison is seen at the Cullman County Courthouse.
Voters will have another opportunity to meet with Republican candidates at the party’s last Saturday breakfast meeting before the primary election.
Secretary of State John Merrill and State Auditor Jim Zeigler, both of whom are seeking re-election, will speak at the 8 a.m. event at the Elks Lodge. State Sen. Paul Bussman and challenger Garlan Gudger Jr., along with State Rep. Corey Harbison and his challenger, Alex Chaney, are also expected to speak, said Cullman County Republican Party Chairman Waid Harbison.

Other candidates for office in the primary are expected to be in attendance, he added.
“The breakfast is open to the public and there is time to meet with candidates at any of the events,” Harbison said.
In addition to challenges in the House and Senate races, the probate judge, two county school board seats, a circuit judge position and the westside associate county commissioner offices are all on the ballot.
“I think we’re headed to a large turnout,” Harbison said. “The interest is high in a lot of the races and people are coming forward with a lot of passion to support the candidates of their choice. I think the interest is peaking up pretty high.”
The Elks Lodge is located on Brantley Avenue in Cullman. The cost for breakfast is $10. For anyone who wants to attend and not have breakfast, there is no cost.
The Republican and Democratic primaries are June 5. Polls will open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.
