Rain or shine, Strawberry Festival goes on

Rain and a few thunderstorms may fall on Cullman during Saturday’s Strawberry Festival, but the show will go on as planned.
The National Weather Service has predicted about a 70 percent of rain and thunderstorms Saturday, but there is no threat of severe weather.

Cullman County Emergency Management Agency Director Phyllis Little said the frequency of the rain and thunderstorms is likely to increase during the day. But the weather service has also brought the evening chances down to about 30 percent.
The Strawberry Festival, under the direction of the Cullman Parks and Recreation Department, will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday as planned. Activities are scheduled throughout the day, although some may be affected by the rain.
Eve 6 is scheduled to take the stage at 7 p.m. for the headline concert of the festival.
Relay for Life
Relay for Life marks its 25th year in Cullman with Friday’s event at the Cullman County Fairgrounds.
Relay for Life will begin at 6 p.m. Proceeds raised locally go to the American Cancer Society, which returns the money to the patient and caregiver community through research funding and support.
