The North Alabama Agriplex will continue its popular series of expert talks on local and regional outdoor topics Tuesday, when the Gosse Nature Lecture series hosts the fourth event in its ongoing lineup of free evening seminars.

This month’s topic is turtles. Drawn from material presented in Turtles of Alabama, one of several locally-focused books in the larger Gosse collection, the lecture will showcase the incredible diversity of Alabama’s shelled reptiles.

Alabama is home to more species of turtle than any other state, with the Mobile River basin hosting a greater diversity of turtles than any other river system in the world.

Each lecture in the Gosse Nature Lecture Series is free to attend, and doesn’t require advance registration. Refreshments will be offered at the monthly talks, which each begin at 6 p.m. The Agriplex also will make the Gosse books, which feature flora and fauna unique to Alabama, available for purchase.

The schedule for the lecture remaining in the Agriplex’s Gosse series includes Ferns of Alabama (June 26) and Mammals of Alabama (July 17).
