Cullman’s Caroline Hollingsworth collected the gold medal in the Class 6A high jump on Day 1 of the 4A-7A state track and field meet in Gulf Shores.

Although Hollingsworth’s distance (5-04) tied with three other athletes, she won the event by completing the entirety of her jumps — five in total — in the fewest attempts.

The Lady Bearcats are currently tied for fourth in the team standings after four events.

Good Hope’s Tommy Fetters (fifth in pole vault) and Bijou Phillips (sixth in 1,600-meter run) also amassed a handful of points in their respective events on Thursday.

The 1A-3A state track and field begins on Friday at Cullman High School.
