If you missed the Bloomin’ Festival yesterday, then today might be the perfect opportunity to head to St. Bernard and take in the once-a-year arts and crafts fair without waiting in traffic and jostling with Saturday’s record-setting crowds.

Although there’s no official count yet, the festival’s first day brought out more people than the event had ever seen, with cars waiting in long lines for parking and Disney-like congestion inside the festival proper. Organizer Joyce Nix said she’d never seen such heavy single-day attendance in the event’s 34-year history.

With intermittent rain and overcast skies expected for the rest of the afternoon, Day Two of the Bloomin’ Festival just may be worth packing an umbrella in exchange for lighter crowds, easy parking, and more room to stretch your legs. The festival continues through 5 p.m. today.
