A round of showers and thunderstorms will begin moving into the area early Saturday morning and begin tapering off Sunday.

Due to the threat of storms and rain Saturday’s Art in the Park event has been cancelled, said Cullman Park & Recreation’s Waid Harbison.

The event was scheduled at Art Park. While it will not be rescheduled, elements of the event will be incorporated into the Strawberry Festival on May 5. This will include an “art zone” with a juried art show, a sidewalk chalk contest, and kids crafts that were all planned to be part of Art in the Park, Harbison said.

Organizers also are holding off a week on the 21st annual Eckenrod All-Ford Fun Day, which originally was scheduled for this Saturday (April 14). Instead, the event will be held Saturday, April 21, kicking off at 8 a.m. and concluding around noon.

“We’ll have free hot dogs, popcorn, and soft drinks,” said Eckenrod General Manager Wade Bentley. “It’s a great day out; we usually have about 200 classic cars there, and typically 1,000 to 1,200 people who come out.”

The Eckenrod All-Ford Fun Day will be held next Saturday at Eckenrod Ford, at the intersection of U.S. Highway 31 and Alabama Highway 157.

The National Weather Service is predicting thunderstorms with winds gusting up to 25 miles per hour. The chance for rain is 90 percent during the day and 100 percent at night. The rain is expected to begin moving into Cullman County around 2 a.m. Saturday.
