FULTONDALE—The Fultondale City Council on Monday voted to join into a state lawsuit against manufacturers of opioid that have led to what experts are calling a crisis across the state.
The lawsuit aims to help cities and other governmental entities recoup their increased expenses related to this crisis, such as first responders, medications required and other supplies that have increased in demand with the extreme increase in opioid use and abuse.
In other business, the council also:
•approved a business license application for C&W Trucking & Son, Inc. at 1351 Highway 31, Suite 111. The application approval is only for an office only, not truck parking.
•approved a resolution to authorize Mayor Jim Lowery to enter into a contract with Dunn Construction for the surfacing of Towne Square subdivision, which is partially paid for by the subdivision’s developer.
•approved a resolution to surplus two Chevrolet pickup trucks (1989 and 1998) from the parks and public works departments and an old trailer that had been used by the police department.
•approved changing the regular council meeting set for March 12 at 6 p.m. to Monday, March 5 at 6 p.m. at Fultondale Public Library.
