Coach Bobby Meyer couldn’t have been more pleased with his team, which outscored the Tigers 26-8 during the third quarter to completely seize control of the contest.

“Our seniors really stepped up and won a big Senior Night game for us,” he said. “We shot a lot of 3’s and hit them in the third quarter. That was key to really jumping out to a big lead. Had some nice balanced scoring to build some momentum heading into the area tournament. Every game from now on has to be played with the intensity that we had tonight.”

The Black and Gold honored their seven seniors — Nick Williams, Trey Tucker, Drew Morton, Zane Manley, Dylan Finch, Jake McAfee and Jacob Adams — prior to the strong showing.

Meyer was certainly happy to send the group out as winners on its home court.

“They’ve been through a lot together,” he said. “Tough season last season with some close losses. This year, they’ve found a way to win 17 games against strong competition. They’ve proven they can play with anybody. Hopefully, we can put together some clean games next week. It’s a one-game season now.”

Morton (17), McAfee (16), Finch (11) and Manley (10) amassed double figures for Cullman in the superb win, while Trey Tucker tossed in eight of his own.

% Good Hope 56, Vinemont 28: Drew Maddox picked up 11 points, and Isaac McDonald and Cole Maddox added 10 apiece to lift the Raiders to a Senior Night victory over the Eagles on Thursday evening.

Matthew Dixon tossed in nine points as well for Good Hope, which improved to 15-12.

McDonald is the team’s lone senior.

Stats for Vinemont were unavailable.

% Brewer 76, Fairview 59: The Aggies couldn’t keep pace with the Patriots on Senior Night, falling to 13-13 on the season with a loss on Thursday evening.

Truman Boyd (14), Cameron Guthrie (13), Bryson Fletcher (nine) and Caleb White (seven) provided buckets throughout the contest.

The former three plus Grant Howard, Klay Knop and Jacob Hill comprise Fairview’s senior class.

Howard, who tore his ACL during football season, started the outing for the Aggies and played for around 30 seconds before exiting.

“Grant was our hustle guy,” coach Branch Whitlock said. “A big-time glue guy for us. We’ve definitely missed him, but we’ve had other guys step up as well.”

% Southeastern 58, St. Bernard 41: The Saints dropped a road game on Thursday night to fall to 13-5.

Carson Holmes (nine), Alec VonThulen (eight), Christian Peterson (seven) and Chan Pham (seven) secured the bulk of the offense for the Saints in the tough loss.

% Hartselle 61, Cullman 55: Anna Katherine Eastman netted a team-high 22 points, but the Lady Bearcats couldn’t secure a Senior Night victory on Thursday evening.

The Class 6A No. 7 Lady Tigers — who drained 10 free throws in the fourth quarter — also claimed a host of offensive rebounds late in the frame to limit the number of offensive possessions for Cullman, which dropped to 17-13 following the tough loss.

Hannah Hoffman collected 11 points to round out the double-digit scorers for coach Josh Hembree’s squad.

“We had a lot of missed opportunities, but I loved the way we competed,” he said. “If we compete like we did tonight, we have a chance to keep playing down the road. I’m proud of our three seniors. We’ll definitely miss

them. But we’ve got some unfinished business to take care of against Fort Payne next Monday first.”

Anna Evans, Kennedy Wren and Lexie Marks are the Black and Gold’s three seniors.

Hartselle (21-5) was paced by Moriah Taylor (24) and Anna Mathis (21).
