With the election less than one month away to decide if Berlin incorporates, two informational meetings have been set for early February.
The meetings are set Feb. 1 and Feb. 6 at 6 p.m. at the Berlin Community Center. Patrick Bates and others involved in the effort to form the community in a town will be on hand to answer questions about the upcoming referendum, and to hand out updated revenue data and sample budgets, as well as copies of the boundary map.
The referendum is scheduled Tuesday, Feb. 13. The last day to register to vote is Monday, January 29.
Petition for the incorporation of Berlin was made Aug. 21 by Bates through Cullman attorney Heath Meherg in the probate judge’s office.
Probate Judge Tammy Brown published a series of required public notices of the election in The Cullman Times, which gave any interested parties 30 days from the date of the last publication to file a written objection to election application. Brown reported no objections were filed and a Notice of Compliance was granted for the election to proceed.
Brown and her staff have reviewed the territory that is proposed as the municipality, as well.
A map of the proposed town boundary can be reviewed at the probate judge’s office and can also be found at facebook.com/BerlinALIncorp/
