WEST POINT — The Lady Warriors dominated the fourth quarter on Tuesday night to pull away for a 64-50 triumph against Cullman inside Jim Boyd Gymnasium.
The Class 5A No. 8 Maroon and White, who led by only four points early in the final frame, rode a 13-0 spurt shortly afterward to seize control and improve to 15-7 this season.
Miriam Oldacre (22), Lexi Shadix (14) and Mackenzie Carter (13) helped West Point avenge an earlier defeat to the Black and Gold with an all-around solid performance.
“We all worked together and moved the ball better and played better defense,” Oldacre said. “If we get on a run, we get more fired up and do better and get better.”

% Cullman 74, West Point 64: Trey Tucker had a game-high 25 points, and the Black and Gold held off a resilient Maroon and White squad to earn a solid victory inside Jim Boyd Gymnasium on Tuesday night.
The Bearcats, who improved to 13-9 following the win, also recorded strong outings from Dylan Finch (18 points and 11 rebounds), Drew Morton (14 points) and Zane Manley (eightpoints) to stave off the Warriors, who fell to 9-11 after the tough defeat.
Cullman possessed a 15-point lead entering the final frame but couldn’t put the home squad away until the very end.
“Thank goodness for Trey,” Black and Gold coach Bobby Meyer said. “He carried us. Coming down that stretch, you want to take care of the ball and make free throws, and we didn’t do those things well … and that never let the game become completely ours. West Point kept playing hard and took advantage of those opportunities.
“We came out of Christmas with no work or rest and came out last week totally flat and not ready to play. And that’s totally my fault due to my bad scheduling. So we’re going to try to get back to playing sound basketball. We did that at times tonight, and we’re going to try to keep working on that Thursday against Randolph.”
