Noah Fendley (11) and Isaac McDonald (six) also provided crucial baskets in the triumph.

“I was proud of how we battled today,” coach Drew Adams said. “They handled adversity better than they have over the past few games. Cole Maddox was outstanding for us. We staved off their runs. We wanted to pick up this win regardless of what the situation was out there. That was our mindset in this contest.”

Good Hope will take on Danville in a 5:15 p.m. matchup on Friday to wrap up tournament play.

Despite the defeat, coach Tim Willoughby saw a few promising sequences from his squad.

“We played hard,” he said. “And we did some things I was proud of against their press. We have problems, at times, with turnovers. If we’re going to do that, let’s do it attacking them instead of them attacking us. Our kids went out there and made some good plays tonight. We’re taking small steps.”
