County schools closed because of concerns over a few icy roads that buses travel to pick up students. Wallace State Community College announced it was closing at 11 a.m.
An area of County Road 54 has icy patches, already, as the temperature has dropped to 29 degrees, said Cullman County Emergency Management Agency Director Phyllis Little.
“The National Weather Service expects this to turn to rain later, but we will just have to wait and see,” Little said. “That could cause some problems for us overnight if the temperatures stay down. In the afternoon we may be back up to around freezing.”
Although snow is falling in Cullman, no other road problems have been reported in the area.
