Santa Claus rides in a horse-drawn carriage during the 2015 Good Hope Christmas Parade.

The City of Good Hope will get into the yuletide spirit Saturday with its annual Christmas parade followed by a visit by Santa Claus among other activities in the park.

Beginning at 2 p.m. at the Good Hope High School, the parade featuring the marching band, cheerleaders, civic organizations and clubs will head to County Round 437 (Old Highway 69). It will end at the city’s park complex where Santa Claus and a band of merry helpers will be waiting for kids — to decorate cookies, make s’mores and have their photo taken with the St. Nick.

The parade is open to all athletic teams and civic and community organizations, no registration required. This year’s theme is snowmen, and parade participants will be competing to see who has the best.

Those planning to attend and want the best view should set up between the Jet Pep at Municipal Drive and CR-437 to the church yard near Good Hope schools.

Not only will Santa Claus be on hand to hear what local kids want, but they can also play in a bouncy house and make themselves a sweet treat in the “cookie house. If that’s not enough, they’ll also be hayrides and a train ride for children only.

The city will provide hotdogs and soda at the park for free. For more information, visit the City of Good Hope’s Facebook page.
