Area parades roll today, Saturday

When the procession of floats begin the journey down 1st Avenue in downtown Cullman, the hustle of Christmas will be in full swing.
At 6 p.m. today, the annual Cullman Christmas Parade begins in front of the Busy Bee and will make its way to Depot Park for the lighting of the city’s massive Christmas tree.
And there’s more. Winter Wonderland at Sportsman Lake will open, a decorative delight of holiday decorations that attracts people throughout the season. Also, Holly Market opens today at the Cullman Civic Center at 9 a.m. and continues into Saturday.
Hanceville will also host the annual Cullman County Christmas Parade at noon Saturday. The event also draws a large crowd for a variety of festivities.
The Fairview Lions Club will also hold a Christmas parade Saturday at 4:30 p.m., beginning at Academic Drive by the school and then down Wesley Ave.
