PREP ROUNDUP: Lady Aggies edge Cold Springs 47-42; Good Hope, West Point secure sweeps

COLD SPRINGS — Payton Golden and Valentina Klocker corralled double digits, Abby Schnittker secured a couple of steals and buckets late, and Fairview’s girls picked up a 47-42 road victory against Cold Springs on Friday night.

Golden (12), Klocker (10), Molly McKelvy (nine) and Schnittker (eight) all nabbed excellent performances for the Lady Aggies, who overcame an early 12-2 deficit to record the triumph and move to 2-1 this season. Klocker and Golden racked up 10 and seven rebounds, respectively, while Schnittker came away four steals for the Purple and Gold.

“This feels amazing,” Schnittker said following the matchup. “We haven’t won here in a long time. I think this could be a great season. It’s definitely an awesome start as far as county goes.”

Fairview used to 20-6 second quarter to take control of the game. 

Cold Springs (1-1) was led by Camryn Crider’s 21 points. She also eclipsed 1,000 career points in the loss. 

Kylon Hamby (six), Neely Ellison (five) and Toni West (four) contributed multiple buckets as well.

% Good Hope 47, Vinemont 18: The Lady Raiders kicked off their season with a resounding triumph on Friday night.

Kate Kent (15 points), Erika Woodall (eight), Leyton Seal (eight) and Amber Sterling (seven) were the top contributors for coach Amanda Swann’s squad.

Varsity Boys

% Fairview 75, Cold Springs 43: Bryson Fletcher scored a game-high 30 points to lift the Aggies to an easy road victory against the Eagles on Friday night.

Truman Boyd (11) and Luke Yarbrough (nine) also had strong showings offensively for Fairview (2-1).

Hunter McClendon and Mason Harris each collected 11 points for Cold Springs, which fell to 1-1 this season.

% Good Hope 69, Vinemont 25: Kallen Sharpton (17 points), Cole Maddox (14) and Isaac McDonald (12) came up with double digits to help the Raiders roll past the Eagles on Friday night.

Drew Maddox (nine points) and Isiah Lemus (eight) notched multiple buckets as well for Good Hope (1-0).

Katch Johnson (10 points) was the top contributor for Vinemont (0-2).

% West Point 55, Hanceville 40: The Warriors put together a solid second half to pull away from the Bulldogs Friday night.

Kolton Sapp (18 points) and Austin Dubberly (13) led West Point (1-0) offensively. Coby Sullins tossed in eight.

Brendan Flanigan tallied a team-high 16 points for Hanceville (0-2).
