Cullman police Sgt. Chris Thomason said he and Officer Dustin Colburn attempted to stop Guillot in the North Shopping Center parking lot and arrest him on multiple outstanding warrants. But as they approached him, he put his vehicle in reverse and fled the scene, Thomason said. Police followed in in a short chase that lasted mere minutes from the back side of the North Shopping Center to Hickory Avenue at U.S. 278.

“During the chase as Guillot was turning onto Third Street, Guillot threw a handgun from the vehicle just blocks from West Elementary School,” Thomason said. “Officers immediately recovered the handgun and found that it was loaded. The chase came to an end when Guillot’s vehicle was cornered on Hickory Avenue near U.S. 278 West.”

Guillot was booked into the Cullman County Detention Center where he remained Thursday.

He is currently out on bond on first-degree assault charges in connection with a July 2015 shooting that wounded three people at 703 12th Ave N.W. in Decatur. The location is reportedly a meeting spot for the “Street Fury” motorcycle club.
