Wallace State among state’s top community colleges

Foster City, CA — Enterprise State Community College has secured the No. 1 spot as the best community college in Alabama, according to an analysis by Schools.com.
Wallace State Community College ranked sixth in the analysis. Longtime Alabama politician, George C. Wallace, helped bring about the public community college presence in the state, and Wallace State is just one of the namesake institutions that honor his contribution to regional higher education.
The Hanceville campus ranks among the top online community colleges in Alabama, with more than 40 percent of students enrolling in distance education courses.
The student-faculty ratio at WSCC is around 15:1, according to the most recent NCES report, which is not only tied for the No. 1 spot among schools that made Schools.com list but is also more favorable than the nationwide average of 16:1 for university-level institutions.
Wallace State is committed to providing students with the latest in instructional technologies to enhance their learning experience. Certain classrooms at WSSC come equipped with Tegrity lecture recording tools and SMARTboard interactive equipment to enhance students’ abilities to engage with course material both during and after class time.
Alabama has 26 community colleges. Each school was scored on against 11 different criteria using the most recent data available from government sources.
