- Bridget Hall and her daughter, Shelby, had heard about the upcoming Veterans celebration at Cullman Airport on Nov. 4. Hall wanted to ride on the Huey helicopter as her father, Ronald Hall, had done many times in Vietnam. The VFW heard about these two ladies and decided to purchase them two tickets in honor of Mr. Hall. Tickets are still available for those interested.
Bridget Hall of Cullman lost her father, Ronald Hall, in Vietnam when she was only three months old.
He had joined the U.S. Army when he was 17, and was 26 and on his third combat tour there when he was killed in action in June 1971. Bridget and her daughter, Shelby, had heard about the upcoming Veterans celebration at Cullman Airport on Nov. 4.
This year’s emphasis is on Vietnam. Hall wanted to ride on the Huey helicopter as Ronald Hall had done many times in Vietnam. The VFW heard about these two ladies and decided to purchase them two tickets in honor of Mr. Hall.
Tickets are still available for those interested.
The Huey will be flying 10 riders for $75 a ride. Children five and over must be accompanied by an adult.
A Cobra carries only one rider on each fast and maneuverable flight and is for adults 18 and over only. The cost is $325 due to the high costs of maintenance, parts and fuel for this aircraft.
Advanced tickets may be purchased on line at flytheford.com or by calling 1-877-952-5395. After the aircraft arrives, the ticket cost will go up and the lines will be long. Cash or checks will be accepted.
The Wallace State History Department will host a day-long event in the terminal lounge featuring re-enactors in period dress, a 1920s movie of the aircraft as well as music and dancing from the Roaring ’20s.
There will also be an antique Ford car show featuring vehicles from many different decades, offered by the Cullman Elks Lodge and sponsored by local government and the Cullman business community.
