Thanks to a pair of Hunter Bartlett touchdowns (an 18-yard run followed by a four-yard reception from Kourtlan Marsh) and another from Daniel Franklin, Mortimer Jordan went to the second quarter with a 21-0 lead over Curry (4-4, 2-3), and marched on to its fifth region win of the year.
The Blue Devils later went to the half with a 44-0 advantage. Bartlett pulled in his second touchdown from Marsh early in the second frame, this time from 13 yards out.
Justin Anderson continued his impressive senior year. The converted point guard broke loose for a 50-yard touchdown run in the second. Daniel Franklin found his way to the end zone twice for the good guys. He drew first blood with a seven-yard score midway through the first quarter and ended the opening half with another short-range score.
Defensively, Mortimer Jordan tore through for a safety before Juju Washington went up for an interception that led to a 41-yard return.
The Blue Devils visit Hayden next week.

The Yellow Jackets bounced back from a disappointing loss last week at Hayden, earning a 24-8 region win over Springville.
Corner (5-4, 3-3 Class 5A, Region 6), much like Mortimer Jordan, set the tone in the first half and rode on to victory. Skylar Lara quarterbacked the home team to a 14-0 halftime lead. He finished the night 19-of-27 through the air for 165 yards, two interceptions and a touchdown. His favorite target was Caleb Brasfield, who caught seven passes for 57 yards. Sophomore Chandler Brakefield pulled in three receptions for 31 yards and a score.
Senior Hunter Whitburn led the ground attach, piling up 47 yards and two touchdowns off nine carries. Trent Shedd went for a team-high six tackles Friday night.
Corner now enters a bye week.
East Memorial 44, Tabernacle Christian 28
Tabernacle head coach Keith Dabbs pointed to turnovers and missed opportunities following a 44-28 road loss. The Torches end the regular season with a record of 4-5.
They trailed 28-6 at the break, but fought back to make it a one-score game late in the third frame. From there, the Torches just couldn’t get over the hump.
Dabbs said he was proud of the way his team competed in the second half.
Sophomore Tony Galbraith ran for 89 yards and a touchdown on 22 calls for Tabernacle. Colby Howard came through for another 53 yards rushing and a touchdown. Howard also caught four passes for 84 yards and a touchdown.
Fultondale 55, Holy Pond 14
The seventh-ranked Wildcats improve to 8-0 on the year to go with a Class 3A, Region 6 record of 5-0.
Fultondale plays its final conference game of the year next Thursday when Locust Fork visits Wildcats Stadium.
