The ladies of the Berlin Sunshine Club met Sept. 14, at Sweet Peppers Deli, in lieu of the regular monthly meeting. The meal was dutch treat. There were 14 members present: Doris Walker, Peggy Hardman, Tootie Sanford, June Butts, Ann Bishop, Jill Bishop Hollis, Gail Wood, Becky Burke, Karen Dunn, Becky Cook, Rena Watson, Joyce Rodgers, Susie Smith, Wanda Hodge. There was one guest present, Judy McKelvey of San Francisco.
On Sept. 30, many club members held a rummage and bake sale for the first time. The fundraiser, held at the Berlin Community Center, was very successful with many items sold out. Fried apple pies, cakes, brownies and cookies went fast. Members participating in the event were Becky Cook, Becky Burke, Kathy Serpa, Ann Bishop, Jill Bishop Hollis, Karen Dunn, Marilyn Bolte, Jo Schaffer, Doris Walker, Tootie Walker, Marie Walker, Rena Watson, Susie Smith and Patty Martin.
Tickets for the annual raffle for a porch swing and handcrafted quilt are still available. The winning tickets will be drawn on Nov. 16, at the Berlin Community Center, after the annual Thanksgiving meal.
The next Sunshine Club meeting will be at 7 p.,m. Oct. 12, at the Berlin Community Center. Sheriff Matt Gentry and Mark Persall, an investigator in the sheriff’s office, will be club’s guests.
