- Sacred Heart to show film 'The 13th Day,' Our Lady of Fatima
Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Cullman is joining with other Roman Catholic Churches throughout the world in the Centennial Celebration of the appearances of The Blessed Mother to three small children at Fatima.
The image of Mary, the Mother of Jesus, came to be known as Our Lady of Fatima and she appeared several times to the three youths, imploring them to urge the world to turn to prayer in order to obtain peace for the nations. She especially encouraged the children to spread the prayers of the Rosary as a special way of seeking God’s attention.
During the month of September and October parishioners gather at the outdoor statue of Our Lady of Cullman On the south side of the church to pray the Rosary as a group. Various attendees gather each Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 12 noon to pray for special intentions and peace in our world.
This prayer group will continue to meet three times weekly until Oct. 13. All are welcome to attend this special half-hour of peace and prayer, regardless of religious affiliation.
