Fultondale stayed unbeaten with a 49-21 road win at Class 4A St. James (1-3) on Friday night. The Trojans came to Fultondale for a 24-18 win last September.

This time around it was an impressive offensive attack from the Wildcats, led by sophomore quarterback Jayson Jones. The youngster accounted for three touchdowns in the road win. He got plenty of help from Walter Blair, who found his way to the end zone four times.

Fultondale now sits at 3-0 on the year, including a 1-0 mark in region play.

Pinson Valley 34, Clay-Chalkville 32

The Class 6A, Region 6 picture came into focus Friday night at Cougar Stadium.

No. 3 Pinson Valley took the driver’s seat, improving to 2-0 in region play with a come-from-behind 34-32 road win over Clay-Chalkville.

The Cougars (3-1, 1-1) led for most of the night, but a short touchdown run from Dilan Henderson gave Pinson Valley a 34-32 edge at the 1:38 mark of the third quarter. That score later went final. Henderson finished the game with 71 yards rushing on 11 calls.

The Indians ran 61 plays for a total of 402 yards. Clay-Chalkville went 344 yards on 73 snaps.

Pinson Valley quarterback Bo Nix completed 18 of his 35 attempts for 292 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. His favorite receiver was Liallen Dailey, who pulled in eight receptions for 164 yards and two scores.

Ezekiel 70, Tabernacle Christian 26

Ezekiel just had more depth than the Torches in a 70-26 final.

Tabernacle Christian (1-3) kept things close for most of the first half, but a slip up on special teams hurt the Torches going into intermission. The Knights ran a kickoff back for a touchdown to claim a 46-26 halftime lead.

The second half was all Ezekiel.

Micah Miller tossed two touchdowns: one to Tony Galbraith (65 yards) and another to Isaac Anderson (51 yards). Galbraith led Tabernacle Christian in rushing with 47 yards and a touchdown.
