PREP VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Lady Aggies improve to 14-1 with flawless week; Cold Springs shines

Fairview’s volleyball team is on a mission.

After winning their second straight Brindlee Mountain Tournament last weekend, the Lady Aggies amassed a 5-0 record this past week by downing West Point (25-20, 25-22, 25-18), Holly Pond (25-19, 25-14), Hayden (25-21, 25-17, 25-20), Vinemont (25-12, 25-9), Good Hope (27-25, 20-25, 15-13) and Cold Springs (25-16, 25-15) to improve to 14-1 overall.

Coach Tracy Means’ squad is also 3-0 in area play and 6-0 against county competition.

The Purple and Gold’s top performers in those five matches were McKinna Yearwood (26 kills, four digs and three aces); Abbi Taylor (25 kills and seven blocks); Daisy Manasco (12 kills); Ally Hogeland (10 blocks); Tess Bailey (five kills and seven blocks); Alivia Boyll (54 assists and three aces); and Micah Means (54 assists). Katie Ball, Marissa Donohoo and Anna Scott also contributed in the wins for Fairview, which travels to Arab, Boaz and Curry next week.

Cold Springs, meanwhile, earned three victories against just one loss (see above) during the week.

The Lady Eagles defeated Hanceville (25-22, 25-18), West Point (16-25, 25-23, 15-12) and Good Hope (25-21, 25-16).

Anna Kate Voce (32 kills, 22 digs and five aces), Grace Chambers (20 kills, four blocks and three aces), Kylon Hamby (20 kills and three aces), Emi Harbison (73 assists and four aces), and Savanna Taylor (25 digs and two aces) helped their team improve to 9-4 overall and 5-1 in county action. 

Cold Springs, which is 1-0 in area play, is currently ranked No. 8 in Class 2A.
