Cullman OKs new annexations

The City of Cullman continues to grow with a host a new annexations approved by the city council Monday.
In all, there were six properties annexed into the city.
In other business, the Cullman City Council:
- Approved minutes from Aug. 28 meeting.
- Set public hearing on Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. for Resolution No. 2018 – 01 to vacate and surplus Hickory Avenue SW between 6th Street SW and 7th Street SW which received a favorable recommendation from the City of Cullman Planning Commission.
- Approved annexation of Haley’s Cove Subdivision (lots 1-7) located on County Road 1408 and 1409 into the city limits of Cullman as R-1 Residential District which received a favorable recommendation from the City of Cullman Planning Commission subject to limited city services.
- Approved annexation of 110 U.S. Highway 278 East owned by Dr. Burton Maxfield into the city limits of Cullman as B-2 Business District which received a favorable recommendation from the City of Cullman Planning Commission subject to limited city services.
- Approved annexation of lot 16 of Stonebridge Subdivision (395 County Road 1317) owned by John and Meredith Easterwood into the city limits of Cullman as R-1 Residential District which received a favorable recommendation from the City of Cullman Planning Commission subject to limited city services.
- Approved annexation of lot 14 of Misty Acres Subdivision (351 County Road 1300) owned by Dawn Dupree into the city limits of Cullman as R-1 Residential District which received a favorable recommendation from the City of Cullman Planning Commission subject to limited city services.
- Approved annexation of annex 1500 Catoma Lane NE owned by Jonathan Bentley into the city limits of Cullman as R-1 Residential District which received a favorable recommendation from the City of Cullman Planning Commission subject to limited city services.
- Approved annexation of a vacant lot located on Catoma Lane NE owned by Doug and Kay Whaley into the city limits of Cullman as R-1 Residential District which received a favorable recommendation from the City of Cullman Planning Commission subject to limited city services.
- Approved change orders no. 1 & no. 2 reducing the total contract amount from $897,410.00 to $843,974.00 for improvements to the sewer lift station at the Waste Water Treatment Plant.
- Awarded the bid for a security fence at the Cullman Regional Airport to Columbus Fence Company, Inc., the lowest responsible bidder, in the budgeted amount of $184,408.50. The City will have 25 percent match ($46,102.13) on this project.
