- People line up for food as others rest at the George R. Brown Convention Center that has been set up as a shelter for evacuees escaping the floodwaters in Houston, Texas, Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017.
The United Way of Cullman County has established a disaster relief fund to assist in both immediate and long-term relief for victims of Tropical Storm Harvey.
All contributions to the United Way’s Flood Relief Fund will be passed directly to the relief effort, with no administrative expenses deducted.
“We are sending 100 percent of the donations made to the Hurricane Disaster Relief Fund to help with the recovery efforts,” said Sammie Danford, executive director for United Way of Cullman County.
“Cullman residents know firsthand the challenges that come from a disaster. The communities that have been affected by this ongoing weather event will need incredible resources to recover.”
At all times, United Way provides support for first responders “so they can respond quickly in times of disaster, as they are doing now,” the organization said in a release.
